With over a decade of experience in the Royal Australian Air Force and the last five years in safety and human factors consulting, Aaron brings a unique blend of operational insight and coaching expertise to Critical Alpha. He has worked across diverse industries including Defence, Rail, Construction, and Logistics — leveraging this background to coach and mentor individuals through high-stakes transitions and career pivots.
Aaron’s coaching philosophy is simple: Teach people how to fish, not just hand them a rod.
His focus is on building self-awareness, discipline, and decision-making capability, so individuals can lead themselves with confidence — even under pressure. While having a coach or mentor can help guide the way, Aaron believes true success comes from learning how to think critically, detach when needed, and make deliberate choices aligned with your values.
Critical Alpha was founded on the principles of aviation. The name itself — drawn from the term Critical Angle of Attack — symbolises the precise moment an aircraft generates lift and takes flight. In elite aviation, when pilots execute “high alpha” manoeuvres, this allows fighter jets to outperform competitors... but only if the pilot can handle the pressure. The same applies to life: you can have the best tools or circumstances, but if you can’t manage stress and execute under load, they won’t take you far.
So the real question becomes: Is it the aircraft — or the pilot — that makes the difference?
The Critical Alpha Methodology was created to help you make that leap. It exists to guide professionals through pressure, complexity, and major life decisions — so you can gain clarity, take action, and succeed on your own terms.
